THEODORE (TED, DICK) SCHIPPER January 22, 1940 - April 18, 2007 Theodore died peacefully at St. Boniface General on April 18, 2007 surrounded by his family. He will be sadly missed and remembered by his beloved wife of 31 years, Diane and their three children, Lisa, Pauline and Richard whom he was very proud of. He also leaves his brothers John (Anne) from British Columbia, Nick from Winnipeg and his sister Rita from British Columbia; his brother-in-law Jacob Toews (Betty Jo) and his sister-in-law Roelie; his cousin Joanne (Ted) Castricum and their family from Landmark, MB and many other cousins in the Netherlands as well as his special aunt Anse Velboer (Pete) also in the Netherlands. Also left to mourn his loss are his mother and father-in-law, Noe and Rolande Gallant; his sisters and brothers-in-law Laura (Larry) Tarasenco, Jeanne (Guy) Thibert, Germain (Michelle), Yvan (Louise), Claire, Andre, Louis, Yvette (Jim) Stevenson and Annette as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Theodorus (1980), Wilhelmina (1990), his sisters Wilhelmina (1984), Joanna (2000), his brother Pete (1991), his nephew Darren (1990) and niece Arlene (1969). Theodore was born on January 22, 1940 in Hilvarenbeek, Netherlands and immigrated with his family to Manitoba in 1952. He was a journeyman electrician who worked for various electrical companies throughout his career, until a work injury forced him to retire in 1998. He was a man with a strong work ethic. His favourite pastime was playing cards, especially cribbage and enjoyed many Tuesday evening cribbage tournaments. He also enjoyed his garden and many vegetables were produced which he gladly shared with family and friends. Theodore showed incredible strength throughout his illness especially towards the end giving his family the gift of having the opportunity to say their goodbyes. The family would like to thank Dr. M. Gabriel, Dr. R. Robinson and all others who assisted in his care, too numerous to mention. A special thank you to all the staff in the ER, 6A Med and Palliative Care for the excellent care provided. Words cannot express our gratitude to all our family, friends and co-workers who supported us over the last few years during the challenging periods of his illness. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9 or to the Scleroderma Society of Canada, 95 Woodfield Road SW, Calgary, AB T2W 5K5. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
