Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR (GEORGE) SPENCER 1917 - 2007 It is with deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Art Spencer, Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB, age 89. He was born June 17, 1917. Art was predeceased by his son Robert (Bob); father John; mother Florence; brother Bill and sister Gladys. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Tena (Bergen), children, David, Carol (George) Wagner, daughter-in-law Freda, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Art was born in St. James (Winnipeg), where he lived until moving to Clarkleigh, MB to farm with his brother Bill. He served in the RCAF for two years during the Second World War and returned to Clarkleigh where he met his wife Tena. They moved to Lundar in 1951 and raised three children. He had many professions at this time, from milkman to appliance repair to camp cook. He will be remembered fondly as an earnest man who meant what he said. He loved to get home to mom and his books. He loved to read and watch sports, especially baseball. They retired to Mitchell, MB in 1980, moved several times in the area and were presently living in Woodhaven Manor, Steinbach. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach with ash interment at a later date.
