WILLIAM (BILL) MANDZIUK 1911 2007 William Bill passed away suddenly on Wednesday April 18, 2007 at the South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver, BC at the age of 95 years. He will be fondly remembered by his loving family including devoted wife Mary, of 71 years; sons, Leonard (Lois) Mandziuk of Osoyoos, BC and Bruce (Terry) Mandziuk of Burnaby, BC; sister Mary Sobchuk of Surrey, BC; grandchildren Glenn (Alleson) of Osoyoos, Lisa of Burnaby and Heather of Burnaby; great-grandchild Emma, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Myron and Katherine Mandziuk and sister Anne Campbell. Bill married Mary in 1935 and together they spent over 71 years together, living in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and finally in Osoyoos. William graduated from St. John's High School and began working for the C.P.R. as a tool and dye maker in 1929. He eventually became a master machinist and master tool and dye maker. Bill worked on and off for the C.P.R. until his retirement in 1972. During the war he worked in Thunder Bay building ships for the war effort. In 1946 he returned to Winnipeg and worked at the C.P.R. until his retirement. One of his many hobbies was clock and watch building and repairs. This led to his final job at C.P.R., being in charge of all the clocks and timers from Winnipeg to Vancouver. After his retirement, Bill loved to go out with his metal detector and as a result had a considerable coin collection which he loved to share with his grandchildren. He was also an amateur geologist, loved fishing, collecting stamps and coins and repairing watches and clocks in his spare time. The family would like to thank the Osoyoos paramedics and the staff at South Okanagan General Hospital. Donations are gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, P.O.
