Besides his loving wife Mary (nee Feculak) of 63 years, he is survived by a son Ken (Arlene) near Calgary, AB, grandson Brad and great-grandchildren, Mack and Karley of Nashville, TN, granddaughter Christine (Jim) Gamlin of Airdrie, AB, another son Brian (Laura), grandsons, Nigel and David and granddaughter Joanne of Duncan, BC and a daughter Linda Molnar and granddaughters, Jennifer and Cassandra of Vancouver, BC. Alex was born August 10, 1917 in Meleb, MB. He was predeceased by his father Nicholas Guzda, mother Anna Prysiaznuk, stepmother Katie Zaturski, three brothers and two sisters. Alex is survived by one sister and two half brothers. Alex was raised on a farm. During the depression, times were very difficult so he would ride the rails in Manitoba and Saskatchewan to find work. When the war broke out, he was drafted and served with the Musk Ox Force at Norman Wells and other choice spots around Northern and Western Canada. Alex worked at Western Gypsum after the war and in 1950 he was employed by Crescent Creamery where he worked for 33 years retiring in 1983. Alex was a member of the Brooklands Volunteer Fire Department for many years and when these services were taken over by the City of St. James, he retired as Captain. He was a member of the Canadian Legion for over 50 years. Alex stated a number of times that the highlight of his marriage and his life was their 50th wedding anniversary with all of the family and friends in attendance to help celebrate this joyous event. When Ken and Brian were transferred to different locations with the R.C.M.P. Alex and Mary always went to visit. During his retirement he enjoyed bingo, playing his harmonica and puttering around the yard and house. Alex was a unique person who enjoyed visiting with anyone. He will be loved forever and will be missed by all of his family and friends. Thanks to Dr. T. Fatoye and all of the Seven Oaks General Hospital Staff for their care and compassion in looking after Dad. Thanks to Dr. Ruben Kaufman and staff for their professional care over the years.
