ONA (GEBHARD) MCDERMOTT May 1, 1920 - February 20, 2007 Ona McDermott beloved mother of Fran and Gretchen Gebhard and cherished wife of John McDermott died peacefully at home in Kelowna, BC on February 20. She is also survived by her sister Thone and Thone's husband Hamilton Goar of Galt, ON. Ona dedicated her life to nursing. She started her career devoting herself to her patients and then became a pioneer in the education of nurses. She was also an accomplished singer and pianist. Ona spent many years as the Director of the School of Nursing at the Misericordia Hospital. The family invites former students, colleagues and friends to a celebration of Ona's life at Misericordia Place, 44 Furby Ave. on Tuesday, May 1 at 4:30 p.m. Ona was a great supporter of animals. Donations in Ona's name to further the protection of animals would be appreciated.
