Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORA ESTELLA (ESTELLE) LANGTON (JOHNSON) June 5, 1914 - April 20, 2007 Our mom, grandma and great-grandma, Estelle, celebrated 93 wonderful years of life and will be lovingly remembered. Estelle was born in Blythe, Ontario, the only child of William and Mary Johnson. Her father was the CPR station agent in Balmoral, Lyleton, and finally Birds Hill in l933. It was there that she became friends with the Langtons, one very special Langton, Alf. On July l, l936, Alf and Estelle were the first couple married in the Birds Hill United Church. In l950 they bought the Birds Hill General Store and Post Office and operated that until after Alf's death in l955. In 1958 she moved to Winnipeg where she worked for the Federal Government in Statistics, a job she dearly loved, until her retirement. She was able to enjoy 33 wonderful years of retirement pursuing her interests in travel and family. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all her family and maintained close relationships with all extended Johnson and Langton relatives as well as numerous close personal friends. She had a special bond with each and every one of them. She loved the country she lived in and lived in the country she loved. She was a volunteer at Dalnavert, a member of the Manitoba Historical Society, the Women's Canadian Club, Wednesday Morning Musicale, Louise Rebeccca Lodge, attended lectures at the University of Winnipeg, and was a loyal fan of the Winnipeg Symphony Pops concerts. In l995 she moved to Killarney to be near her daughter but kept up her Winnipeg connections. She is survived by her two children, Bill Langton (CarolAnne) and Joan (Bob Ferris); grandchildren, Ken Langton (Brenda), Darlene (Jason Blough), Craig Ferris (Thithphavanh), Kent Ferris (Jungboon), and Kristin Ferris; great-grandchildren, Alyson, Celina, Madison, Liam, Brandon, Sydney, Dwayne and Ethan. A graveside ceremony with the immediate family was held on April 25, 2007. We will remember our dear Mom's positive attitude and her genuine interest in people. Mom's motto was: Love for life and love for family. At Mom's request a memorial tea will be held at Birds Hill United Church on Saturday, June 2, 2007 from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. If friends so wish donations may be made to Mom's favourite charities: The Children's Research Foundation, or the Birds Hill United Church or a charity of choice.
