ALBIN MARCHINKO It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Albin Marchinko. Dad passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Health Sciences Center. He was 74 years old, born October 30, 1932. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his two sons and their families, son Wayne (Linda) and their children, Kristi and Kyle; son Brian (Deirdre) and their children, Kathleen and Kevin. Also left to mourn his passing are his sisters, Mary and Adeline; his brother Victor (Mary); and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Albin was predeceased by his wife Mary; parents, Rose and Mike; sisters, Emily and Ann; brothers, Walter and John; and brothers-in-law, Edward, Walter, Alex, and Tom. Dad was born in Mikado, SK and came to Winnipeg in the mid 1950s. He was married on October 6, 1959. Dad received a certificate to become a butcher, and worked in and out of his chosen profession for many years until his first battle with cancer in 1989. This disease played a part in sudden passing. Dad was a classic armchair quarterback. He could always be found smoking on his couch in front of the TV watching anything involving a ball, puck, or rock. He was quick to tell you who would win, and couldn't understand it if you didn't go along with his prediction. He also became an expert in world affairs on that very couch, that is, according to the daytime talk show hosts. Visiting him at his apartment usually meant getting into a debate about something. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2007 at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St. 338-7111
