HELEN WRIGHT (WERYHA) With her daughter and son-in-law at her side, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on April 26, 2007 at the age of 88. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, Stanley; daughter Patricia Shodine (Ray); and grandchildren, Lee, Ryan and Lauren Shodine. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Maria (1990) and Demetrioff (1923); brother Alexander (1958); sister Natalia Raketti (1997). She is survived by brother Maurice; and nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Port Arthur, ON, August 29, 1918. Helen was employed by the T. Eaton Co. in Port Arthur and later in Winnipeg. During that time she also modelled hats for the company. On November 11, 1955, Helen and Stanley were married. With Stanley's job with CIBC, they moved to several locations including, Holland, MB and Atikocan, ON, eventually settling in Winnipeg. Mom returned to work in 1968 for Bowring's at Polo Park and had a very rewarding career there, working her way to manager. She enjoyed going on many buying trips to Toronto and Montreal on behalf of Bowrings. She enjoyed this job immensely and was rewarded for her hard work by making the store one of the most profitable in the sales area. Upon retirement, Mom and Dad travelled numerous times back to Thunder Bay to see friends and relatives. The past several years, Mom has resided at Donwood Manor. Mom was cared for with respect, compassion and dignity by all staff. Our family would like to thank the staff at Donwood for their exceptional support and attention. The staff doesn't just work there, they care there. A memorial service will be held at Donwood Manor, 171 Donwood Dr., at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 in the chapel.
