Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE JOSEPH MONKMAN April 4, 1932 May 1, 2007 On May 1, 2007, at the Selkirk General Hospital, Lawrence Joseph Monkman, aged 75 years, late of Selkirk and formerly of Patricia Beach. Lawrence is survived by his children, Lorry (Laurel), Pidge (April), Pete (Diane), Marilyn (Peter), Tex (Cathy), Calvin/Toup (Connie), Shirley and Sharon; grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Matthew, Angie (Brent), Amy, Andrew, T.J., Tiffany, Dale (Tanya), Tammy, Chad, Ryan and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Paige, Chelsea, Brady and Charlie; brothers, Gordon and Wilfred (Beverly) and sister Irene. He was predeceased by his wife Olga in 1994 and his brother Kenneth Walker. Lawrence worked on the dredge in his early years then went to work for Winnipeg Supply for 20 years. He enjoyed watching his five sons play hockey. He also was assistant coach for the Scanterbury Brewers broomball team. Special thanks to the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital. Very special thanks to Walter Woods (Bubs), Janice Smith and Vivian Dennis. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, May 5 at 11:00 a.m. also in the chapel with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
