WILLIAM B. MINUK It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Bill Minuk on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents Mendel and Lily; his brother Julius; his sister-in-law Lola; and brothers-in-law Hy Sirkis and Lawrence Racklin. He leaves to mourn his wife Zena; and their children, Dr. Howard (Dr. Cheryl), Dr. Rick (Francine), Dr. Terry (Dr. Bev); and his nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Ashley, Carly, Jeffrey, Marlee, Zachary, Mark, Steven and Devin; his sisters Doris Steiman (Keppy) and Ruth Racklin; his brothers Bert (Marian) and Sam (Ruby); sister-in-law Esther; and brother-in-law Ron Kirshner. He was a true role model for his family and friends and his passing will leave a void in their lives. The largest void however will be felt by his best friend and devoted and loving wife Zena. Bill was born in Winnipeg on August 26, 1924, and was raised on Aberdeen Ave. He graduated from St. John's Tech and was a Jewish War Veteran of Canada, serving overseas for three years in the RCAF. Bill met his wife Zena in Winnipeg, was married in 1948 and became an inseparable couple for the next 59 years. Bill operated the Corona Theatre before beginning his successful career in real estate. He and his brother Bert became partners, establishing Park Realty Ltd. which quickly became Winnipeg's most successful real estate firm. This partnership lasted 35 years until they sold their business and retired. Bill was a member of Mount Sinai Masonic Lodge, a Shriner in the Khartum Temple and was a prominent, well respected member of the Winnipeg community. Bill and his wife Zena spent many winters at their Florida condominium where they made many close friends. They enjoyed their summers in Winnipeg with their large close knit family. It was the importance of family and the maintenance of close relationships that Bill cherished and passed onto his children and grandchildren. Bill was a charming gentleman with a wonderful sense of humour, always making people laugh with his quips and anecdotes. He understood the value that education had in shaping one's future and really motivated his children to pursue their dreams. Bill was a man of impeccable style; he dressed with style, looked after his family with style, raised his children with style, worked in real estate with style and enjoyed his retirement years with style. The Minuk family would like to thank the physicians and nurses at the Toronto General Hospital and the Victoria General Hospital for the outstanding care which he received.
