Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURENCE GAINSBOROUGH August 11, 1949 May 1, 2007 With broken hearts, we would like to announce that after a lengthy illness, Laurence Gainsborough passed away on Tuesday, May 1 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 57. Laurence was born in London, England, the son of Margaret and the late Cecil Gainsborough. He is survived by his wife Wendy, sons, Jeffrey (Michelle), Stephen (Amanda), and Kyle. He is also survived by brothers, Richard (Eileen), Derek (Rose), and sisters, Anne and Christine, as well as new found half sisters, Wendy and Sylvia. After school, Laurence joined the British Army Corps of Signals and served in Northern Ireland, Germany and Bahrain. Laurence was stationed at British Army Training Unit Suffield, AB and it was during this time that he grew to enjoy the Canadian way of life and immigrated to Canada in 1973. He worked at several jobs in Alberta and NWT, before transferring to Winnipeg in 1976 as branch manager of Snappy business forms. He met Wendy and they were married in 1977. Laurence's dreams of owning his own business materialized in 1983, when they formed Laurwen Investments Inc: a video leasing company operating across western Canada and NWT. In the early 1990's, he started Fog Security Systems, and eventually developed and manufactured his own fog units. Laurence instilled in his family his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and service to his customers. He was never idle and enjoyed problem solving, nothing was impossible for him. His dry British humour was often followed by wild fits of laughter in our household. Laurence was a very devoted family man, who found relaxation working around his home and property with his dog Monty in tow. Those who knew Laurence know how close he was to his family, and how family gatherings were always highlights in his life. Laurence will be missed by all and never forgotten. A celebration of Laurence's life will be held on Friday, May 4, 2007 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church at 709 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow nearby. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
