Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMONA (IRENE) TURTON (nee SMITH) July 29, 1924 - May 1, 2007 Peacefully, with family at her side on May 1, 2007, Irene passed away at Charleswood Care Centre at the age of 82. Irene was predeceased by her infant grandson Dakin and by Albert Reginald Turton. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lyle (Nolette), Jim (Lorraine), David (Wendy), Douglas (Nancy), Morley (Leona), Keith (Eduarda), Heather (Bill) Comstock, Eldon (Helen), Calvin (Charlene). Irene will also be missed by grandchildren, Holly, Meika, Perry, Paula, Pamela, David, Sabrina, Amy, Brenna, Jonna, Deana, Angela, Richard, Chera, Devon, Jared, Rachael, Sarah and Layne; her 13 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Nina, Alex, and Sheila. Irene was born and grew up in the Swan River area until 1965. She lived in Thompson from 1965 to 1978 and in Flin Flon from 1978 to 1998 when she moved to Winnipeg to join her family. Irene enjoyed watching 100 Huntley Street and It's a New Day. Irene was always involved in her church, she also volunteered with Women's Aglow and sponsored a needy child overseas. Irene always put her family before herself. Her love and devotion will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Charleswood Care Centre for the special care shown to Mom and family members. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 505 Oakview Ave. An interment and reception will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene's name to 100 Huntley Street, Crossroads Christian Comm.
