Date of Passing: May 01, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD (TED) IRVINE It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great- grandfather Edward (Ted) Irvine on May 1, 2007 at the age of 83. Ted was born and educated in Winnipeg. He joined the Royal Air Force in 1943 and served in the Pacific theater as an air gunner in a Catalina flying boat. After the war he joined the Winnipeg Fire Department and spent most of his tour at No. 4 firehall. He retired as captain with over 37 years of service. Besides his parents, Ted was predeceased by his three brothers, Fred, Harry and George. Peggy, his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, and wife of 31 years also reached the end of her journey in 1974. Those left waiting to see him again are his two sons, Lorne and wife Karen of Richmond, BC, and Paul and wife Linda of Winnipeg. He also leaves to mourn grandson Michael and wife Kristi of Kelowna, granddaughter Christine and husband Darren of Winnipeg, grandaughter Lyndsay and husband Jerry, grandson Tyler and grand-daughter Kaitlyn, also of Winnipeg; great- grandsons, Jackson and Ethan in Kelowna, Keven and Branden in Winnipeg and many neices and nephews. Also left to mourn, his sister-in-law Violet of Langley, BC. Ted was predeceased by companion Ruby Anderson. He will also be missed members of the Anderson family, many good friends and neighbours along with long time companion Phyllis Axford. Everyone who met Ted immediately liked him. He was a longtime member of the Army and Navy Veterans Unit 60. Ted loved to golf and bowl but what he enjoyed most was his time spent at West Hawk Lake. Although Alzheimer's Disease made his last few years difficult, Dad when asked, would say he was good good good , a phrase he always used no matter what and that's how we will remember him. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of the special care unit on T3 at the Deerlodge Center. Your care and compassion made Dad's journey dignified. Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
