ALMA MARGUERITE WILLIAMS (HARVEY) A
Date of Passing: May 02, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALMA MARGUERITE WILLIAMS (nee HARVEY) A dynamic force in the lives of all who knew her, Alma M. Williams passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of May 2, 2007 a few weeks before her 91st birthday. Alma was predeceased by her husband Joseph (Joe) Williams in 1987 and her youngest sister Myrtle in childhood. She leaves with cherished memories her sister Marion Smith of Duncan, BC, brother Harold Harvey (Pia) of Etobicoke, ON, son Warren (Nancy) of Oliver, BC, daughter Marilyn of Winnipeg, four grandchildren: Maralee Jehle (Grant), Coralee O'Connor (Dave Peters), Wendy Williams and Eliot Williams; six great-grandchildren: Brock, Kennedy and Maleea Peters, and Jack, Josh and Max Jehle. Alma had a long association with the White Cross Guild and was Coordinator of Junior Volunteers at the Health Sciences Centre for many years. She was a dedicated homemaker, skilled seamstress, avid reader and gardener. She was a master instigator and always the life of the party. Alma was known for her sharp wit and keen sense of humour. Forever active, Alma and Joe were a dream team, enjoying many hours together of golf, curling, and square dancing. They played countless hours together on the course at Winnipeg Beach and in later years continued their love of the links at Southwood Golf Club. Alma suffered a stroke in August 2006 that robbed her of her mobility but not her keen mind. Always physically fit, she was fiercely determined to walk again. She enjoyed her years at the Wellington and was sorry to leave her many friends there. The dedicated and cheerful staff on the Stroke Rehab Wing at Riverview Health Centre made her months there a special time that she reflected upon with warmth and a smile. In the last few months Alma continued to face her new challenges at Vista Park Lodge where her therapy continued with caring staff. Among her greatest joys was the family gathering for her 90th birthday and hearing her great-grandchildren sing. More than anything, she was hoping to watch a family football game and a first annual memorial match will be played later this summer. Cremation has taken place. Flowers are gratefully declined. The family thanks all for their kind thoughts and good wishes. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
