Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILDA GREENHALGH (nee HOPKINSON) 1912 - 2007 Peacefully, on Thursday, April 19, 2007, our much loved Mom, Grandma and Great-grandma passed away at Oakview Place. Predeceased by husband Jack in 1947, and her sister Lucy, Mom's life and memory will continue in the family she leaves behind. Son Jack (Gail); daughters, Barbara (Ed), Diane (Bob), Marlene (Warren); grandchildren, Mark (Charlene), Michael (Kimberley), Andrea (Bill), Heather (Patrick), Paul (Donna), Greg (Bonny), Kirby - deceased February 2007, (Rachelle), Meeghan, Daryn (Vinh); great-grandchildren, Corey, Paige, Kaitlan, Ian, Madison, Kennedy, Lyndsey, Sara, Jennifer, Danielle, Casia, Liam; sisters, Kay of Victoria, BC, Anne (Paul) of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother Bill (Dorothy) of Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews. As a young widow of 35, Mom worked at the Eaton store while raising a young family of four. Later on she worked for the Canadian Wheat Board until she retired at 63. Throughout the years she volunteered with good friend Billie as a leader for the Canadian Girl Guides. A major part of her life centered on St. James United Church and the fellowship of the U.C.W. group. She was a talented sewer, knitter and crafter. Mom was able to travel to Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, China, the United States and Chile after retiring. Many thanks to the staff at Oakview Place for the care and compassion shown towards our Mom. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. James United Church or charity of choice. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life service and reception will take place Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James United Church, 234 Parkview St., Reverend Donald McIntyre officiating.
