Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN MASKIW (nee BOYECHKO) It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Maskiw announces her peaceful passing at home with her family by her side on May 1, 2007, due to complications of diabetes. Remaining to forever cherish her memory is her loving husband of 47 years, Jim, and their sons, Rod (Nicole), Russ (Sandy) and Brian (Cynthia); her grandson Kyle; her sister Ann; brothers, Peter (Olga) and Paul (Livia); and her many relatives and friends. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Max and Catherine Boyechko; and her in-laws, Paul and Mary Maskiw. Helen was born on October 5, 1934 at Sarto. In her late teens she moved to Winnipeg where she worked at Eatons Mail Order. Helen and Jim were married on June 4, 1960. In 1962 they moved to their first residence on Bank Avenue before the birth of their first son Rod. In 1968 they moved to a small farm near St. Adolphe where sons, Russell and Brian were born in 1971 and 1972. In 1989, Helen and Jim were blessed with their grandson Kyle, whom she loved very much. Helen never complained during her six month battle, trying to stay alive for her family. However the excruciating pain finally forced Helen to succumb to the illness. The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Burnett and the nurses and staff of South Eastman Health for the excellent care that was provided during her last three months at home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of your choice. Prayers will be at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day St. Sunday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Service will follow on Monday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m., also at St. Michael's.
