Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory(SMOKE'N) JOE UNDIKS 1934 - 2007 Smoke'n Joe died peacefully on May 4, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife Susan; his children: Cathy (Dieter), Karen, Dean, Judy, Darlene (Jason), Cyndie (Dallas), and Willy; and his grandchildren: Sonya, Tara, Brian, Derek, Kristen, Skylor and Nathaniel. Joe was born in Riga, Latvia in 1934. He came to Canada on February 1, 1949. Joe served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Joe believed in all things good and never underestimated the power of learning, to which his seven children and seven grandchildren can attest. This led Joe to his 29 year career as a teacher of Math and Science at Red River Community College. His ambition and forward thinking led him to start his own business in 1980 - Mag-Na-Port Canada. In November of 1976 Joe met the love of his life, Susan. They were married in September 8, 1979. Together they lived a happy simple life raising their family, enjoying their grand-children and loving their many family pets. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Selkirk General Hospital for making Joe comfortable, putting up with his eccentric personality and the many hot blankets :) A memorial service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home of Selkirk on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. The family extends an invitation to the service and immediately following; a celebration of Joe's life at a bring-your-own Smoke'n Joe style BBQ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joe's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association www.diabetes.ca.
