ADRIANA (JEANNE) CORNELIA OVERWATER (nee VAN AERT) Jeanne passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2007 at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. She was born on November 14, 1923 in Princehage, The Netherlands. Immigrating to Canada with her family in 1948, they settled in St. Eustache, MB. She met her husband George and they married on September 9, 1950. George and Jeanne made their home in St. Andrews, MB where they did market gardening, growing vegetables for Salisbury House Restaurants as well as opening their home to many new immigrants from Holland helping find homes of their own. After retirement, she and George travelled coast to coast in Canada and throughout the United States in their motorhome, making friends everywhere they went. She particularly enjoyed their winters in Texas. Jeanne had a great passion for flowers, especially African violets. She was a longtime member of St. Theresa's C.W.L. and the West St. Paul Warmth (Seniors) Club, serving as President for many years. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren who spent many summers on camping and fishing trips with Opa and Oma and more recently she especially lit up when her great-grandchildren came to visit. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband George; her parents and two sisters. She is survived by her only daughter Mary Anne (Joe) Schers; grandchildren, Dean (Angie), Kevin (Michelle) and Tricia. Great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Katie, Joshua, Gracie, Marcus and Elena. She is also survived by her brothers, Jack (Mia), Henry, Adrian (Rita), Cornelius (Ine), George (Corrie) and sister Cathy (Fred) van Gompel, as well as brother and sister-in-law Albert and Mary Geurts; sister-in-law Antoinette Overwater and many nieces and nephews. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I know it has been a long time since we touched base but Jeanne and George were so well liked by us and were such good neighbours.... we visited with them a lot and always had laughs to share.... Yes... your mom was famous for her african violets and always put the kettle on when we would drop by for a visit... and out came the dutch cheese... I remember George rounding up the neighbourhood kids to pick potatoes... we had such a good time in those days.... They are and still talked about with fondest memories by my mom and dad... and me of course... We miss you a lot... and hope and pray that one day we can all re-unite... My sincerest condolences to Maryann and Joe and family Our prayers will always be with you... "Until we ALL meet again"... Chris...
