NELLIE SEMNOVITCH It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Nellie passed away peacefully, in her sleep at home, at the age of 84 on May 5, 2007. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Patricia (Salvatore) Carvelli and her son Bill (Verna) of Kelowna; her cherished grandchildren, Mark (Marnie), Paul (Kelly), Rachelle, Anne Marie (Jeff), and Jason (Crystal); great-grandchildren, Owen, Evan, Macy, Molly and Olivia. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Olga Oberton, Minnie Kaluznick and Steffie Gill; brothers, Wally (Stella) from Minneapolis, Stan (Bev) from Calgary; sister-in-law Olga Kaluznick, numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her husband Peter; brother Ed, and sister Zoe. Mom was born, raised and spent all of her life in St. Boniface. She started her working career at a very young age and retired at the age of 65 from Eatons, where she made many lifelong friends. She was a founding member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church and an active member of the C.W.L. for over 40 years, offering her time and talents to their many fundraising events throughout the years. Mom took great pride and pleasure in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Her happiest moments were being with family and friends. She loved celebrations and get-togethers big or small. Mom was a very hardworking person, always the first to step in and help. She wanted the best for everyone and did what she could to make that happen, be it encouraging us, offering advice and support to family and friends, cooking and baking for others, caring for sick family and friends. She had a great sense of humour and a real way with words. What a wonderful lady! Panachyda Prayers will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10 at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion Street. Divine Liturgy (mass) will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2007, also at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment to follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Mom, Baba, you have left us with so many memories, you taught us so much, we will carry on with all the traditions that were so important to you. We love you, rest in peace. VICHNAYA PAMYAT We did not know that morning What sorrow the day would bring, The bitter grief and shock severe To part with the one we love so dear. You bid no one a last farewell Gave no chance to say goodbye, You were gone before we knew it, Only God knows why. It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. Though your smile is hidden now And your hand we cannot touch, We will never lose the memory, Of the one we loved so much.
