CINDY (CID) PATRICIA NEUSTAEDTER (nee CURRIE) April 28, 1960 May 5, 2007 No words can express how we feel about the loss of Cindy. She was so dearly loved and will be sadly missed and forever cherished by her husband Darryl and children, Alexa, 19, Cole, 16, and Mitch, 15. She also leaves to mourn, her parents, Gord and Pat Currie; sister April Mulla (Gerry), and her children, Jasson, Marlo and Carly; sister Brenda Peever (Gord) and their children, Samantha, Melanie and Kyle; sister Diane Currie and her son Jonathan, her brother John (Manuela) and his stepchildren Dario and Danica, her parents-in-law, Al and El Neustaedter; her sister-in-law Rae Eger (Doug) and their children, Graham, Scott and Alec; and her brother-in-law Curt. Cindy was born in 1960 and grew up in Fort Whyte in southwest Winnipeg, where she attended Fort Whyte School, Dieppe School, and Charleswood Collegiate (from which she graduated in 1978). All her life, she had wanted to become a teacher, and she went on to study at the University of Manitoba, receiving her B.Ed degree in 1982. She began her teaching career in 1982 in South Indian Lake with the Frontier School Division, together with her very good friend Barb Charrierre. From there she went on to teach at several schools in Winnipeg School Division # 1, including Dufferin, King Edward, John M. King, Wolseley and Lord Roberts. Cindy loved her job and has touched the lives of her many students, and was loved by students and staff alike. Cindy and Darryl were married in 1984, and were to have celebrated their 23rd anniversary this June 29th. Daughter Alexa arrived in 1987, son Cole followed in 1990, and son Mitch wrapped things up in 1992. Her teaching career was briefly interrupted by breast cancer in January 1998, and by recurrences over the years, but she remained positive and focused on living a victorious and joy-filled life with her family. Cid was a selfless person who always put others before herself. She was a pillar of strength for her family, and was always encouraging to everyone around her. Cid loved reading, studying her Bible, volunteering in church and in the kid's schools, spending time with her many friends, watching movies, watching the kids frolic in the pool with their cousins and friends, and most of all spending quality time with her family, whether it was a summer or winter vacation or simply a fun evening at home. Our family road trips throughout North America were a highlight each summer. We recently returned from a two-week trip to Maui, where the five of us experienced heaven on earth together. Cindy loved and adored her children and husband, and they loved and adored her in multiples right back. She will be missed so deeply, her memory will be cherished, and she will live on in the hearts of all those that she touched. She is in a better place, and for that we are grateful. The family would like to thank the staff of the Seven Oaks Oncology Unit for their long term care and support, Cindy's oncologist Dr. Jack Lezack for his sensitive and skilled handling of her case, the Mayo Clinic Medical Oncology Unit (Rochester) for the counsel that they provided in the summer of 2006, and the Emergency and ICU staff at the Victoria General Hospital. We'd also like to thank Lord Roberts School and staff for their continuous love, care and support of Cindy and her family, without which things would have been much more difficult over the years, and the support and understanding provided by Darryl's employer, Greystone Managed Investments. We also thank the many family and friends that dropped off meals, helped with the kids, or offered encouraging words and prayers since Cid's original diagnosis. A celebration of Cindy's life will take place at 1:00 p.m., Thursday May 10 at Springs Church at 595 Lagimodiere Blvd. Cremation has taken place. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Adopt a Child with World Vision (a charity that was close to Cid's heart), Samaritan's Purse, or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. We love you, Bugs!
