HAROLD PINDER Peacefully on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the Victoria General Hospital, Harold Pinder died at the age 87 years. Lovingly remembered by his wife Mary Anne of 59 years of marriage; daughters, Janice (Stu) Payne and Debbie; son Allan (Patty); as well as grandchildren, Shauna and Scott. Harold was born in Winnipeg June 30, 1919 as the only child of Beatrice and Edward of Leeds, England. He served during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Engineers attached to the Number Five General Hospital Unit serving in England and Italy from 1939 until the end of the war. Harold was employed as a supervisor at the Canadian Pacific Railway Weston Shops retiring after 44 years. He enjoyed baseball as a youth, later took up curling and golf and was past president of the Victoria Curling Club. Following retirement Harold enjoyed travelling overseas, winters in Arizona and summers in Gimli. In compliance with Harold's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held and a gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 12 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at The Boulton, 45 Boulton Bay. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
