JOHN MAKARENKO 1924 - 2007 On Wednesday, May 9, 2007, John died at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 83 years. Remaining to forever cherish John's memory are his sisters, Rose (Schneider), Jean (Refchuk), Mildred (Stu) (Myers); sister-in-law Irene (Makarenko); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Elwood) (Betty) in 1973; brother Paul; and sisters, Mary (Lee), Annita (Vachef), Anne (Wilson), Kay (Belvidere), Doris (Maxie) and Lena Makarenko. John was born in Transcona, Manitoba and grew up there. He entered the Military and made it his career until retirement in 1972. In compliance with John's wishes no formal funeral service will be held. If friends so desire, donations may be made in John's memory to the charity of one's choice. Peacefully sleeping, resting at last, The world's weary troubles and trials are past.
