JOHN UNRAU 1919 - 2007 Peacefully, on May 8, 2007 at Deer Lodge Centre, John Unrau passed away at the age of 87 years. John was born in Nikolaipol, South Russia on July 9, 1919, the eldest son of Jacob and Katharina (Klassen) Unrau. He grew up on a farm near Hanley, SK and moved to Winnipeg with his family in 1949. For the next 36 years he was employed at Monarch Industries retiring at the age of 64. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking, travelling and spending time with his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne, children, Trudy; Lily (Ted) Barg; Harry (Darlene); John (Kathleen) and Ruth (Michael) Kepron; grandchildren, Darryl (Krista) Neustaedter Barg; Andrea (Kelly) Guenther; Karen Barg (fiancé Mark Maurice); Kristopher Unrau; Marla, Jared and Nicole Kepron, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Walter in 2006 and is survived by his brother Harry (Leonora), sister Tina (Hank) Nickel and sister-in-law Helen Unrau. Viewing on Sunday, May 13, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007 at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave. at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
