Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMURIEL MCGRATH (nee DEWHIRST) Born June 8, 1924 in the Yorkshire Dales, England. Arrived in Canada as a war bride in 1946 aboard the S.S. Letitia with infant daughter Jacqueline and expectant with son Barry. Muriel is survived by her husband Douglas McGrath, daughter Jacqueline (Gerry) Jorowski, son Barry (Charlotte) Macrae, granddaughters, Amanda (Neil) Cunningham and Vanessa Macrae. She was predeceased by her sister Irene Rothrey. Muriel retired in 1989 from Manitoba Corporations Branch and was a member of #4 St. James Legion and Seniors Club. She looked forward to many of the organized trips and curling events. Muriel was a strong, sweet, intelligent woman with a quick wit and a great sense of humour. After her heroic battle over the last three months, Muriel passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2007. The same strength that brought her to Canada as a war bride is the same strength that she demonstrated throughout her life. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff of the Grace Hospital for their care and kindness. The family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date.
