VERNA M. DIXON (nee NEILL) October 16, 1925 ~ May 7, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Verna Dixon on Monday, May 7, 2007, at St. Boniface Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Geoffrey L. Dixon, on November 20, 2006. Verna is survived by her daughter Diane Dixon, son-in-law Kevin McCulloch, grandsons, Geoffrey McCulloch and Jonathan McCulloch; her daughter Susan Dee of Victoria, BC; her brother and sister-in-law, Murray and Joan Neill; sister-in-law Joyce Moody of Medicine Hat, AB and Lloyd (Bev) Dixon of Shawnigan Lake, BC. Auntie Verna will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Lila (nee French) Neill and siblings, Patricia Kordalchuk and Robert Neill of Winnipeg. Born in Winnipeg, Verna attended General Wolfe and Daniel McIntyre Schools. Verna enjoyed many years at the Winnipeg Roller Rink and the midnight train ride to the old dance pavilion at Grand Beach. Verna met Geoff in 1942 while both were working at Hignell Printing and were married Christmas Eve, 1944. Verna worked for The Bay and retired after 27 years. Her travels took her to Asia, Hawaii, Russia, Central Europe, England, Scotland and all over western Canada. Verna loved children and loved being a mom and a grandma. She was proud of her daughters and doted on her grandsons. Happy Mother's Day Mom The family would like to thank all of those special caregivers who looked after Mom at the Palliative Care Ward of St. Boniface Hospital.
