MARY DERKACH SAMBORSKI (ZELENENKI) Mary, aged 107 years, passed away on May 10, 2007 at Shoal Lake Personal Care Home. Her son Alex (Dorothy); daughter-in-law Lena Derkach; her five grandchildren, her twelve great-grandchildren and her five great-great-grandchildren will miss Mary. She was predeceased by her first husband Harry Derkach, her second husband Mike Samborski, her son Steve, her daughter-in-law Margaret and granddaughter Donna. At age 14 she left Elawche, Trembowlia in Ukraine for Canada. At age 16 with Harry Derkach, her husband, they homesteaded at Seech, MB. She later moved to Dauphin, MB where she resided until Harry's death in 1959. Her move then to Oakburn, resulted in her second marriage to Mike Samborski. Being near her children was a comfort to her since Mike passed away in 1973. She enjoyed her stay in Oakburn until 1995 by tending to her gardening, braiding mats, playing cards and attending the Ukrainian Catholic Church. In 1995 she became a resident of Morley House in Shoal Lake, MB. Mary enjoyed conversing with others, and had a great sense of humour. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and her memory will be cherished forever. The family would like to thank the staff at Morley House for all their care and compassion. Prayers will be held at Oakburn at the Ukrainian Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 15 at 8:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service on Wednesday May 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
