GERTRUDE MARGARET MACKENZIE Peacefully on May 11, 2007 at Westside Care Center, Gertrude MacKenzie (Dunbar), beloved wife of Hugh MacKenzie who predeceased her on December 24, 2004. Gertrude was born in Norwood, Manitoba on November 7, 1914, where she was known for her baseball and basketball achievements. She enjoyed life to the fullest, travelling and holidaying with her husband Hugh and loved the comforts and good times at their Sandy Hook cottage. She and Hugh moved to Kelowna in 1998 to be closer to family. Gertrude was predeceased by Hugh, her brother Bill Dunbar and sisters, Cora Hunter, Evelyn Reid and Bernice Eue. She will be sadly missed by her son Bill and wife Judy, two grandchildren, Kelly Scott (Chad) and Kevin (Lynnette) and great-grandchildren Emma and Ethan whom she loved very much, and sister Muriel Misseghers. Family meant so much to her and she will always be remembered for her cheery disposition and unconditional love which she extended to all her family. She lived her life to the end with grace and dignity and was always appreciative of all that she had. Our deepest thanks to all the wonderful caregivers at Westside Care who loved and cared for her for the past five years. No funeral service as requested. Interment will take place at a later date in Winnipeg. Flowers gratefully declined, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or any charity of your choice would be appreciated.
