Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVE SOKOLOWSKI P. Eng. Born in Sidney, Manitoba in 1920, son of Alexander and Tatiana Sokolowski. Steve passed away in hospital, in Ottawa on Monday, May 14, 2007. Predeceased by his wife Iris Jeffrey in 1992. He leaves two daughters; Gail Wood of North Carolina and Dawn MacDonald (Greg) of Brockville; three grandchildren, David Wood (Celeste), Gregory Wood (Lisa) and Erin MacDonald; four great-grandchildren, Evan, Hayden, Anna and Luke Stephen all in North Carolina; two brothers, Bill (Jean) of Selkirk, Manitoba and Walter (Victoria) of Winnipeg. Dear friend of Joyce Kennedy of Ottawa. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother John (Isabel). Steve moved to Rosser, Manitoba at a young age, was educated in Rosser and attended the University of Manitoba, graduating as an Electrical Engineer at age 20. He served in the Army Signals Corp. from 1941 to 1945. He then worked at Bell Canada in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa until he retired in 1981, in Ottawa. Steve had a gentle nature and was a good friend to all, a real gentleman. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until service time in the Chapel at 4:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
