MARIA IRENE CORTEZ VALENTE Words cannot express the sorrow we feel in announcing the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother on May 13, 2007 in Urqueira, Portugal. Mom was born July 20, 1938 in Vila Franca De Xira, Portugal. She later met and married Miguel Valente and in August of 1972 together they brought their family to Winnipeg to start a new life. Mom was predeceased by our Dad Miguel in November, 2000. Mom will be deeply missed by her children, Jose Miguel (Louisa), Ana Maria (Avelino), Phil, Armindo (Dana), and her grandsons, Wilson Valente Almeida, and Miguel John and Daniel Marco Valente. Mom also leaves to mourn family and friends in both Portugal and Winnipeg. Mom worked for many years at Rae and Jerry's restaurant, while raising her family. Funeral services were held in Urqueira, Portugal on May 14, 2007 with her children at her side. A seven day mass will be celebrated in her memory at 5:00 p.m., May 19, 2007 at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. with Fr. Jose Eduardo Mederios presiding. A 30 day mass will be held at 7:00 p.m., June 14, 2007 at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. with Fr. Jose Eduardo Mederios presiding.
