MARY JAMAN Her son holding her hand, Mary Jaman, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away in her 95th year on May 12, 2007 at the Park Manor Personal Care Home. Mary was born September 14, 1911 in Gardenton, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her parents, Ivan and Anna Odokeychuk; husband John; siblings, Ellie and Richard, Lena and Dora; son-in-law Maurice, and daughter-in-law Barbara. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her daughter Margaret; son Bill and grandsons, Wesley and Daniel (Laurie) and great-grandson Carter. Mary was a stay-at-home wife and mother, who loved cooking and baking, canning and sewing. She was someone who treasured her background and never forgot where she came from and what she had learned and accomplished. Family always came first. She kept her Ukrainian heritage in mind, always celebrating both Christmases. While still at 1107 Copeland on the Southside, she enjoyed company, whether they be family, friends or neighbours, big or small, and she always had tea on the stove and cake or cookies. Mary was a long time member of All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church and would always help the Ladies Auxiliary and attend Church when she was able. It is ironic in a way that Mom should pass away a day before Mother's Day, it is as if, given her condition, she was meant to go, that instead of visiting and celebrating the day with her, that we should reflect on what a great mother, grandmother and friend she was. She will be sadly missed, but always remembered. Her stay away from home, beginning at the Deer Lodge Centre and ending at the Park Manor Personal Care Home lasted 16 years. In that time she was looked after by many special people. Our family would like to thank the Nursing Staff at both facilities for the love, care and understanding given and with a special thank you for her doctor and friend, Dr. Ross. Prayers will be offered Thursday evening, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1500 Day Street. Funeral service to follow on Friday, May 18 at 1:00 p.m. also at the church with Father Bill Wasyliw officiating. Interment at Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wesley and Daniel Jaman, Bill Jaman, John and Jim Kosowan and Jerry Strong. Vichnaya Pam'Yat Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
