ANNE WEVURSKY (nee KOPYS) 1913 - 2007 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother who died peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 93. Left to mourn Mom's passing are her daughters, Nancy and Lovey; grandchildren, Juanita, Laurie (Ron), Gordie (Tracy); great-grandchildren, Beth, John, Owen and Luke; daughter-in-law Lily; sisters, Kay and Rose; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Nellie Kopys; her husband John and son Steve; her sisters, Mary, Nellie and Dora and her brothers, Matthew, Mike, Steve and John. Mom was born and raised in Fisher Branch and lived there all her life except for the last four years when she moved to Winnipeg to live with us, her daughters. She married her husband John in 1929. They settled on a farm where they raised their family. Though the work was hard, good times were shared by all. In the late 1960s, they moved to town where Mom opened Anne's Card Gift shop. She enjoyed her work and customers for 15 years. She also spent many years working for the church, being a member of the Women's Institute and boarding teachers and many others at her home. She loved cooking, Bingo, singing with the Ukrainian choir, her flowers and garden, crocheting and of course, dancing. She spent many hours listening to Zabava and was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage. Mom was devoted to her family, giving of herself endlessly, always generous with her love, time and money. She loved her grand-children and great-grandchildren and was looking forward to spending more time with them. Her home was always open to everyone and many looked up to her as their second mother. We will all miss her dearly! Vichnaya Pam'yat Mom! Special thanks to Laurie, Juanita and Lily for helping us keep watch over Mom in the hospital. Thank you to all the visitors for bringing much laughter and joy to Mom in her final days. We would also like to thank the staff of GH4 Health Sciences Centre for their loving care and compassion and to the clergy for their many prayers and blessings. Prayers will be said at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Fisher Branch at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 18 followed by Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 19 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne's name may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or The Arthritis Society, 105 - 386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0T8.
