HAROLD GEORGE BROOKS Harold George Brooks started another journey at the age of 84. For many years, he confounded medical wisdom right to the end proving that he really was a miracle man . Suddenly on Monday, May 14, 2007 Harold closed his eyes and stopped the pain. His loving wife, Darlene, said her goodbyes with her family by her side. This was our most difficult day knowing we would no longer see his blue sparkling eyes and warm smile. Harold enjoyed his family and in knowing every detail about them. He often added a few of his own details to increase the excitement of the story. He leaves weary hearts in Patti (Alex), Shelley (Kris), Lori (Laurie), Linda (Barry) and Rick. Being the proudest Grandpa added to his happy life. Grandpa added to their joy too: Richard, Chandelle, Andrew, Carly, Dallas, Danny, Alexis, Dylan, Clayten, Sandy and great-granddaughter, Ayla. Harold was born in Dominion City, MB in August 1922, son of the late Harry and the late Francis (Pearce) Brooks. Predeceased by his brother Wally, nephew Bryan Corbeil and nephew Alan Parker. Loving brother to Adeline Parker (husband David), Maxine Francis of Hamilton, and Jean McPhail of Milton. Harold has numerous nieces and nephews and will be lovingly remembered as their fun uncle. Harold was proudly employed for 47 years with Lowe Brothers and Sherwin Williams Paints. In his younger years, Harold was a great curler and in more recent years, enjoyed watching all sports from the comfort of his easy chair. His amazing memory allowed him to know each player's name, number and stats. Each day started with his ever so enjoyed walk. He looked forward to winter walks in Polo Park Mall and relished the acquaintances of many mall walkers . During the summer season, his walks outside would be a wonderful time enjoying many neighbourhood gardens. Harold's own lawn was always weed free as he battled the dandelions every day. Harold enjoyed many years as a member of the Khartum Flag Patrol and boasted about being one of the oldest living Life Long Members. A celebration of life honouring a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle will be held on Friday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. Mr. Norman Pohl officiating. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to The Khartum Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Ave. or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
