DONALD E. GILL After a short illness, Don passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre on May 16, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Don was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate Wilma, and his sister Mary. He was born in Winnipeg on November 18, 1922 and moved to England with his family in 1936. He enlisted in the Royal Marines during the Second World War, and soon transferred to the Canadian 2nd Armored Brigade and landed in France on D-Day plus six hours. After the war Don returned to Canada and briefly worked for the CNR, and then on to Ashdowns Hardware sales division for 15 years. He then worked for Great West Life Assurance Co. until his retirement. During this time Don and Wilma belonged to Rossmere Country Club. They both enjoyed golfing and curling at the club, as well as many social activities. For the past 20 years Don and Wilma spent their winters in McAllen, Texas, and made many friends in their trailer park. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Riverview. At Don's request there will be no service. Cremation has taken place, and Don will be interred with Wilma at Elmwood Cemetery.
