STEPHEN CHOMICA After a brief illness, at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, Stephen Chomica, aged 84 years passed away peacefully. Steve was born in Poplarfield and attended school there. At an early age of 17, he left home to join his older brothers in Ontario to work in a gold mine. Later he returned to Manitoba, where he met Marie Horodecki. They were married at St. Stephen's Broadway United Church in Winnipeg and settled in Winnipeg. Stephen decided to go and take a course at J. Musker Engineering Institute in a special engine and auto electrical course. As a truck mechanic now, Steve worked for 25 years serving delivery fleets of Eaton's and Crescent Creamery. He then wrote the millwright exams and took employment with Canada Post at the main office in Winnipeg, working there in full satisfaction as a millwright until an injury forced him into a slightly early retirement. Steve was predeceased by his entire immediate family of 11 siblings. Steve will be loved and remembered by his loving wife Marie and son Brian; and he is fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Teulon on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Patricia Baker will officiate. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
