MARIE MARGARET BOOMER (OULION) It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Boomer, at Riverview Health Centre on Monday, May 14, 2007, two weeks before her 73rd birthday. Margaret leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Tim; her nephews, Jim (Ollie) and Jayson (Cecilia) and niece Jade; her grandnieces, Kristin, Kelsey, Cailee and Ella and great-grandniece Bronwyn, and grandnephews, Rhys and Randyl; as well as many friends and people whose lives she touched. Her husband Fred, her parents, John and Priscilla Oulion, her sisters, Josephine, Joanne and Betty and brother Bill, predeceased her. Margaret was born on May 26, 1934 and grew up in St. Boniface. She attended Academie Saint Joseph, where she made friendships that have lasted to this day, and was an avid baseball player. It was through baseball that she met her future husband Fred. After marrying, they lived in Norwood before moving to Charleswood, where she lived for the past 40 years. She worked at Eaton's Mail Order for many years, and after its closing spent time working for Robinson Little and Jostens, making lasting friendships everywhere. She took time out from her career to nurse her sister Jo, husband Fred and brother-in-law Doug through serious illness. On weekends and then in retirement, she took great delight in combing garage sales for toys and other items, looking for antiques and furniture to restore, and researching her finds, first in books and then on the internet. Over the last few years, she made contact through email with old friends and distant relatives, keeping up a happy correspondence. And she took particular joy in the family dinners that she hosted on every holiday for over 30 years. Her home in Charleswood became a gathering place for her extended family. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Riverview, many of whom she befriended in her earlier stay, and who offered such tender care during her final days. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will follow. Flowers gratefully declined prayers gracefully accepted.
