ISABELLA (BELLE) KITCHEN

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISABELLA (BELLE) KITCHEN (nee Lowdon) After a courageous struggle, Mom passed away at the age of 89 in a peaceful setting over looking the lake on Thursday, May 17, 2007. She was surrounded by her family whom she loved so dearly. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, and daughter Ann Raincock. Also predeceased by her parents Robert and Isabella Lowdon, sons-in-law, Keith Gunn, Donald Okrainec and Jake Smiley; sister Rachel and brothers Keith, Tom, John, Bob and Alf. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Helen Smiley, son Gordon (Joan) Kitchen and son-in-law Clarence Raincock; her grandchildren, Darren (Joanne) Gunn, Todd (Lorraine) Gunn, Della (Larry) Cogar, Burke (Charlene) Okrainec, Peggy (Mario) Beauchamp, Wade (Vanessa) Raincock, David Kitchen, Jenny (Matt) Lane; great-grandchildren Melissa, Kristen, Amber (Scott), Chad, Cherrie, Tyler, Amanda, Jamie, Krista, Mitchell, Ashley, Brittany and Erin, all who will miss her greatly. Mom was born in Greenside, England on November 13, 1917. She immigrated to Canada in September 1924. Mom and Dad were married in October 1939, and enjoyed 62 years of life together, until Dad's death in October 2001. Mom and Dad farmed west of Poplar Point and later moved in town. They were members of the Poplar Point United Church. Mom was a life member of the UCW. Family was very important to Mom and she was never happier than when she was cooking a meal or baking for her kids and grandkids. Mom was an avid gardener and took great pride in her beautiful flower gardens. She moved into the Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie in September 2005. Mom was very appreciative of and would want to say thank you to the staff of DCL, to her family and friends who visited her faithfully while at DCL. The family would like to thank Sherri Legary, Pat Chimney, Dr. Ross, the wonderful Homecare workers. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, led by Rev. Ross Taylor. Belle will be laid to rest in the Oakville Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Belle's memory to Sunset Palliative Care, Inc., Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3A7.
