Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET LILLIAN WILLIAMS (nee KEIR) Margaret Lillian Williams passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Grace Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory, husband Mac; daughters, Brenda, Lanie (Matthew); sister Ruth (Bruce) Martin; grandchildren, Woodrow, Tova, Alaina, Daerion, and Jordann, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents William and Lilian Keir. Margaret was born on a Manitoba farm on September 20, 1931, when the world was lit by lanterns, and driven by horses. She moved to Morden with her family in 1945 and following graduation, she taught on permit for one year, and then went to teacher's College in Winnipeg. She taught in many towns and communities of Manitoba. She married Mac in 1959 and together they watched the world and their family grow and change. Always loving and kind, Margaret had a positive impact on the lives of so many people, from her students, to her Special Aide children, to those she helped through Outreach and The Eastern Star. Her hard work, compassion and respect brought awareness and necessary change to her community and congregation, and enabled her to start a breakfast program for children at Westgrove School. Always beautiful, Margaret embraced life. She loved to dance, walk, paint and travel. She loved playing sports like hockey, baseball, curling, and swimming, and coached many teams to championships. She always fought the good fight, to honor and protect her community, nature, and the world around her. Courageous, dedicated and strong, she taught us that it really takes only one person to bring great changes. She gives us all hope forever. The family wishes to thank the Charleswood United Church for their love and support in her time of trial, as well as the Grace Hospital caregivers and chaplains and the Home Care support she received from Leona and her staff. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd, with an interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave, and a reception back at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's name to the Alzheimer's Society of Winnipeg, Room N108-2109 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3J 0L3 or to a charity of your choice.
