OURANIA CORANTZOPOULOS 1937 - 2007 It is with great sadness and heartache that we announce the sudden passing of Ourania Corantzopoulos on May 20, 2007, at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 70. Ourania will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her loving husband of 40 years, Angelo; her daughters, Georgia (Dino) Chouzouris and Patty (David) Golas; and most of all by her three grandsons, Angelo, Valandi and Anthony. She also leaves to mourn her brother Terry (Janet); brothers-in-law, Sam (Vicky) and Tim (Helen) of Winnipeg; her three sisters, Penelope, Antigone (Aristidi) and Anna (Meleti); and her brother-in-law George (Dina) of Greece. Ourania will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends here in Canada and in Greece. Ourania was born in Pikerni (Tripoli), Greece on February 11, 1937, and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1965. She returned to Greece and married Angelo. Together they returned to Winnipeg where they started their family. Ourania was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked tirelessly along side Angelo and together they owned and ran a successful family business, Super Boy's Family Restaurant. Ourania was an active member of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and Community and enjoyed volunteering her time for The Daughters of Penelope, Folklorama and other special events. Although she spent most of her time caring for her family, she loved flowers and enjoyed gardening and keeping her yard and garden looking beautiful. Prayer service will be held on Wednesday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 0S2. Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m., also at the church, with Father Demetrios Gianniou officiating. Interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be George Aggelopoulos, Gus Aggelopoulos, Lance Wyatt, Gus Loubardias, Chris Andrianopoulos and Sakis Calas. Remembrance may be made by family and friends in Ourania's memory to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715

  • Dear Angelo, Georgia/Dino, Patty/David and families; May the ‘Father of mercies and God of all comfort’ (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) give you and your families the strength today and the days ahead to bear the heavy burden of this enormous loss. God promises to be with us always in times of grief and unbearable pain, even in the shadow of death. I will perform a Trisagion for mom at my church here in Thunder Bay tomorrow morning. You are in our prayers. - Posted by: Fr. Nikolaos & Presbytera Tambakis (Friend) on: May 30, 2007
