PETER SKRUPSKI Mr. Peter Skrupski, aged 79 years, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at his residence in Beausejour, MB. Peter was born October 7, 1927 in Krydor, SK. Dad came to Manitoba from Saskatchewan in the mid-depression. Pioneer conditions were at times harsh on the homestead north of Tyndall. Because dad grew up in poverty, his early years profoundly shaped his outlook on life. Dad was a dragline operator, town councillor, gardener, berry and mushroom picker. When we were growing up in Garson, Dad always made sure that food was plentiful in our home. Not only for our family but also for anyone who came to visit. Dad made the best soups and his specialty dish was his famous cream chicken. Our dad was a gentle man who was generous and compassionate. He loved and he totally gave of himself. Dad loved feeding the birds. There was always a daily treat for the blue jays. Dad shared 40 years of his life with his wife Mae who passed away February 11, 1990. Dad also shared the last nine years with his partner Jean Rogocki, who will miss him dearly. Towards the end, Dad was no longer able to get out of bed and had stopped eating and drinking. We allowed Dad to determine the course of his final days. The cancer provided him a means of leaving a life well-lived. He knew when it was time to leave. On a beautiful calm morning, with the birds of spring singing by his bedroom window, Dad passed away. He will be sadly missed by his children, Larry (Coreen), David (Wendy), Gloria (Glenn), Paul (Darcene) and Peter (Donna); his grandchildren, Sherri (Slade), Derrick (Monica), Chris (Caroline), Jonathan, Brody, Kyra and Blake; his great-grandchildren, Ella-Mae, Katelynn and soon to be great-grandson; his brothers, Walter and Edward and sister Lorna. Where the vines were ever fruited and the weather ever fine, And the birds were ever singing For that dear dad of mine.. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Peter's life will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East in Beausejour, MB. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations can be made in Peter's memory to the Children's Wish Foundation.
