CAMPBELL (CAM) MACINTOSH 1920 - 2007 On Tuesday, May 22, 2007, Cam passed away after a lengthy illness. Cam was predeceased by his brother Jim and sister Audrey Thibaudeau. Cam is survived by his wife Margit; his five children, Janice Kupchik (Steven), Barry (Diane), Douglas (Laurie), Ronald, and Diana Cholosky (Gary); his sister Aileen; his Aunt Frankie Hay (McIvor); his niece Aileen Penman, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Cam spent many of his early years on his grandparent's (McIvors) farm and attended school in Selkirk. Cam had six years of military service (1939 to 1945) as a member of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment. The Loyal Eddies participated in the invasion of Sicily in 1943 and the subsequent advancement from the south to the north of Italy and onward into Western Europe. Their most notable engagement along the way was the Battle for Ortona. A battle in which 1374 Canadian soldiers lost their lives over a span of eight days, before the enemy retreated and left Ortona to the allied forces. Following the war, Cam was a bulk oil agent for White Rose and later Shell Canada in the Selkirk area. Upon his retirement from this career he joined the Corps of Commissioners and was assigned to the Shell Refinery in Winnipeg. Cam enjoyed his time in this position, often taking that extra step to help others. Cam's keen sense of humour and sharp wit was enjoyed by many and helped carry family members throughout his illness. We will all miss him very much. The family is grateful to the many health care workers at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Maples and Kildonan Personal Care Homes, and the Concordia Hospital who assisted Cam and family members in the difficult times. In keeping with Cam's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 26331 STN BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 4R1, or to a charity of your choice. You are never more than a thought away, always remembered, everyday. There's no need for words except to say, I Love You.
