ADOREE MAGDALENE WOOLF LEBROOY WAYGOOD October 23, 1918 May 10, 2007 Adorée passed away peacefully at Kopernik Lodge in Vancouver on the evening of May 10, 2007, from complications due to Alzheimer's. She always missed her husband Roy, who predeceased her on April 8, 2001. Adorée was born in Baddeck, NS, on October 23, 1918, when her father was working on a patent with Alexander Graham Bell who mentioned her birth in his diary. Adorée became a nurse and served in London, England as a Captain Matron during the blitz. In 1950 she married Dr. Ernest Roy Waygood (FRSC) and with him over the years welcomed many Botany graduate students and young professors to their various homes and farms in Winnipeg, MB. It was here that she was able to indulge in her love of horses. In 1963, Adorée returned to McGill University to obtain a Master of Library Science degree. She then became a high school librarian first at Churchill High School in Winnipeg, then at Dakota Collegiate in St. Vital and finally as divisional librarian for Seine River School Division. Retirement took Adorée and Roy to Chilliwack, White Rock, New Westminster and Vancouver. She always had a faithful cocker spaniel at her side Woofy, Ruffie, and finally Jessie. Adorée was always known for her energy and spunk. She loved her various dolls' houses especially her one in France. Nothing was too difficult for her and she amazed many people with the way in which she coped despite her ever-increasing Alzheimer's even continuing to speak French while in Kopernik Lodge. Adorée is survived by her only daughter Pamela (Robert Jacques) of Wrigley, Northwest Territories. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Enid Lebrooy of Vancouver, Phyllis Lebrooy of Kelowna and Mimi Sutcliffe of Sidney. She was predeceased by her twin brothers, Peter Lebrooy and Paul Lebrooy, both of Vancouver and her sister, Penelope Ann, of Guadeloupe. She is survived by her stepsisters, Wendy Lebrooy of England, Susan Keane (Bill) of North Carolina; her nieces, Jennifer Lebrooy of Kelowna, Francine Lacoste of Montreal, and her nephews, Kim Lacoste of Guadeloupe, David Darwin (Cindy) of Logan Lake, BC, and Walden Darwin. Adorée is also survived by her nephews, Bruce Waygood (Kate) of Pender Island, BC, Roy Waygood (Linda) of Victoria, and her niece, Helen Waygood of England. A special thank you to Dr. John Mail and the staff at Kopernik Lodge who cared for Adorée so kindly from the time she went into their care in March 2005. No service and no flowers at her request. Adorée will be joining Roy at the southern tip of Lake Manitoba close to the Delta Marsh Field Station. Donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer Society of BC or the BCSPCA.
