Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN C. WACHAL August 11, 1916 - May 23, 2007 Peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday morning the 23rd of May 2007, John Wachal passed away at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 90. He is survived by his soulmate and devoted wife of 65 years, Annette. Together they had two wonderful children, son Ronald Wachal of Sedona, Arizona, and daughter Valerie Firth (Gary) of Winnipeg. John was also blessed with two grandchildren, Laura Wachal and Jordan Firth (Heather). He is also survived by sisters, Jean and Hedwig; and brother Edward. John spent his life surrounded by family as well as many lifelong friends. John was born and raised in the Winnipeg area where he and Annette made their home. John worked tirelessly to provide the best for his family. He received his Chartered Accountant designation and began his career with Price Waterhouse. As his family grew, he joined United Grain Growers, eventually retiring as General Manager in 1979. Once retired, he was able to spend more time enjoying his family and his personal interests. John enjoyed traveling, and he and Annette made multiple trips to Hawaii over the years, making many cherished friends. When not traveling, John enjoyed golfing as well as being actively involved at St. Bernadette parish. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at the Riverview Health Centre at AB1 and CD1. The love and support you provided to John, Annette and the family far surpassed our expectations. A celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30 at St. Bernadette Church located at Cottonwood Rd. and Drake Blvd., Father Fred Olds celebrant. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. He passed as he lived, peacefully and gently. We will all miss Dad's caring nature and patient guidance. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the St. Raphael Centre at the St. Bernadette Parish, or the charity of your choice.
