CHRISTFRIEDE DUECK It was with anticipated joy that Christfriede Margaret Dueck began celebrating eternal life with her Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ on May 22, 2007. With great dignity, courage and grace, she accepted her cancer diagnosis in 2006. Besides her parents, Hermann and Wilhelmine Dueck, she was predeceased by her brothers, Ernst-Otto, Herman and Reinhard Dueck. She is survived by five siblings, in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Christfriede was born on December 29, 1920 in Reichfelde, Germany, the first born of nine children. Her early years were spent on her parent's estate in Marienau, Germany. The family had to flee their home during the Second World War and Christfriede came to Canada in 1950. In Winnipeg, she worked at a sewing factory until 1960, and then moved to Vancouver, BC. She spent her first nine years there as a live-in homemaker and manager for the Fraser family estate. For the next 23 years, she was a loyal live-in homemaker and manager for Dr.'s Lola and Henry Zeldowics until they passed away. In 1992 she moved back to Winnipeg to retire and lived at Sunset House. As her illness progressed she lived with her sister Elisabeth, who took wonderful care of her, and provided her with a caring and loving environment. Elisabeth was at Christfriede's bedside when she peacefully passed away. Christfriede was quiet by nature, and she preferred solitude, yet her silence spoke volumes, as she lived her life with her faith, and her belief in Jesus Christ. She loved to read about current events and how they correlated with the Bible and its prophecies. When she did speak, her words were always optimistic and joyful, and she spoke with humble wisdom. She always had a sunny, cheerful disposition, and a bright and happy outlook on life. She was an inspiration to those who knew her. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalms 116:15 Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St. Viewing prior to the service. FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE 2146 Main Street 339-5555
