IRENE BABCHUK (nee MASKIW) 1912 - 2007 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Babchuk on May 25, 2007, peacefully in her sleep at Deer Lodge Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Peter; her sisters, Nellie, Margaret, and Anne; and her brother Ken. She will be lovingly be remembered by the godson she raised, Danny (Lorraine); nephew Richard (Sue); as well as remaining family and friends. Irene was born in Rossburn, Manitoba, before moving to Winnipeg. She loved gardening, Ukrainian cooking, listening to CJOB and spending time visiting or phoning family and friends. Prior to retirement, Irene spent many years waitressing in the restaurant and catering business. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Doermer and Matt from Munroe Pharmacy for their many years of care and compassion toward Irene. We would also like to thank those friends and family who continued to phone and visit Irene while she was confined to her home and hospital. Prayers will be said on Monday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. The funeral service will be held at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Watt St. at Munroe Ave., on Tuesday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
