DOUGLAS PAYMENT
Date of Passing: May 22, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS PAYMENT With great sorrow and heartache, we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Payment on May 22, 2007 at the age of 73. Left to mourn the loss of our beloved Doug are his wife of 48 years, Shirley, daughter Angela (Murray), son Michael (Jane), his sisters, Noreen and Marjorie, as well as his brother Howard. Also left behind to honour his memory are his grandchildren, Cara-lee, John Clayton (Shauna), Carl, Josephine, Emily, and great-grandchildren, Breanna and Natalie. Not to mention many cousins, friends and others who were a part of Doug's life. Doug was a man of many talents except for cooking. But what he lacked in the kitchen, he made up for by his housekeeping skills, which left his home notoriously immaculate, and a love of gardening that made his yard one to admire. In his long career in sales, Doug worked for various places, such as Winnipeg Supply, North West Wholesale, and spent many years on the road as a country salesman for Western Supplies, a job he greatly enjoyed. He retired in 1996 to pursue full-time hobbies such as golf (summer) and curling (winter). Doug loved and lived music. Many a night was spent dancing in the kitchen with his wife, enjoying the artistry of musicians such as Abba, or even bobbing his head along to the Portage Polka Party. He also loved to play card games, and was quick to break out a good board game for the family to rally around. However, one can certainly not forget Doug the proud Manitoban. He regaled many with his seemingly endless knowledge of our family's heritage in St. Norbert and the rise of Winnipeg as a metropolis. Most importantly, we will remember Doug as a sensitive soul, who would do anything for his family and friends. His comments were never meant to harm, but only to show his affinity for each and every one of us. He was the rock who we all looked to comfort the family in tragedies. Therefore, his memory will help to bring us together, to remember who he was to each of us, and what he added to our lives. You will be sorely missed, Doug, but your memory will live on forever. Memorial service will be held Monday, May 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Assiniboia Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Avenue with Monsignor Comeault officiating. Interment of ashes in Assumption Cemetery.
