HONORIE WERBOWSKI (nee DIDOSHAK) Born September 12, 1930 Our beloved mom and grandma passed away May 22, 2007, with her family by her side. Predeceased by husband Bill Werby (November 2006); parents, John (1966) and Carolina (1972). She is survived by daughter Cindy; son Greg (Noreen); adored grandchildren, Sean and Ryan, and stepgrandson Cody, all of North Vancouver. She also leaves to mourn in-laws, Paul and Wanda Werbowski and their family of Winnipeg and Toronto. Born in Winnipeg to hard working and selfless immigrant parents, mom knew all too well the struggles and hardships faced by families in the dirty thirties. She grew up in the very ethnic north end of Winnipeg and remained very proud of her Ukrainian heritage, passing on the customs and traditions to her children. She frequently reminisced about her Isaac Newton High School days, the stores on Selkirk Avenue, going on tramps in the winter and the good fun that she had with friends growing up in the North End. When dad first met mom he announced, She's the girl I'm going to marry. They married in 1954 and their union lasted for 52 years of which she fondly looked back upon as never dull. In 1968, the family moved to North Vancouver and with each passing winter both would boast to friends back in Winnipeg, Well at least we don't have to shovel the rain. Mom was a pioneer in the computer industry. She was one of the first key punch operators working for Air Canada and later joining the Bank of Montreal, enjoying a career lasting over 20 years. Mom was a very caring woman. Her pets were her joy and she cared for each as if they were her kids. She never threw out a crust of bread, leaving it instead for the squirrels and birds that frequented the yard. Through the years she welcomed friends into her home and enjoyed recalled N.F.L. Sundays with the gang. She always made sure there was plenty to eat - putting on a good spread for everyone. Mom loved shopping in America, taking a chance at the casino and trips to Vegas with her family. But above all else, it was her family she loved most. She was a proud mom who taught us well. She raised us with tenderness, care, generosity and love. She adored her grandsons and regretted that she wasn't young enough to keep up with them. Profoundly devastated by the unexpected illness and passing of her beloved husband, Bill, in November, mom's health took a turn for the worse. We miss her immensely and know that we were blessed with the greatest mom and grandma ever. God bless you, Mom. You're home again with Dad and the puppers. Till' we meet again - Love you. We'll spin a 22. Contact the family for information re: a celebration of Mom's life on June 1. In tears we saw you sinking We watched you start to fade The mom we knew was leaving But you fought so hard to stay. God saw you getting tired When health was not to be So He put His arms around you, And whispered, Come home to Me. And in an instant you were gone Free from any pain You're home where we will join you When our time comes one day.
