KENNETH MURCHISON On May 27, 2007, Kenneth A. Murchison, at the age of 82, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at the Concordia Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his family: Gord and Betty Mitchell and their children, Drew and Kaylee; Cindy and Dave McCulloch and children, Chris Lobchuk, Adam Lobchuk and Cassandra and their daughter Marissa, Ben Lobchuk and Danielle Lobchuk; Don and Desi Murchison and Don's daughter Nicole Jordan, all of Winnipeg as well as nieces, Adell and Ron Hay, Karen and Moray Erin, Linda and Ilyia Zirdum and nephew Malcolm and Sheila Murchison. Ken was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Sylvia Murchison, as well by his parents, John and Aletha Murchison; his brothers, Duncan, Tom, and Ted Murchison and his sisters, Mary Arcand, Jessie May Murchison, Marette Donaldson and Lotti Epps. Ken was born and raised in the town of Dominion City. After finishing his education, he moved to Winnipeg looking for new adventures and employment. He spent most of his years working in the automotive and painting industries. He worked for many years at Sharp's Electric where he started as one of the drivers, then moving on to head the shipping department for many years until the company closed. Prior to Sharp's, he worked for many years for George Gilbert in the sign printing business. Ken was a hard working and dependable worker. He enjoyed his many years in these occupations. After retiring, Ken was able to dedicate more time to his real love, gardening. He could be found puttering in his garden at all times of the growing season. If it was outside the growing season, you could always find a plant or two in the home being nurtured and readied for the growing season. Due to his recently failing health, he was not able to conduct his gardening chores as he had before and you could see something was missing from his daily routine. He was still able to visit his many friends at Robin's Donuts and also at his apartment block. He appreciated the friendships that were developed at those two locations. He was also a very caring and selfless person. He would always go out of his way to assist a friend / relative in need. No favour was ever too large for Ken to fulfill. If you asked Ken for a hand, you could always count him to deliver. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and staff at the Concordia Hospital for the care during Ken's recent illness. Your care and compassion was greatly appreciated. A big warm heartfelt thank you to Patti and Allison and the other home care workers that helped Ken for so long! A memorial service will be held Friday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME, 220 Hespeler Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. A reception will follow the service.
