She leaves to cherish her memory her husband and best friend Allan; daughters Corrine (Cam), Leslie (Jeff), and Pamela (Kevin); son Paul; cherished grandchildren, Jodie, Mathieu, Samantha, Cory, Jasmine, Monika, James and Jack; great-grandson Gage; brothers, Glen (Dolores), Sheldon (Elaine) and Derek (Cindy), and their families. Selma will also be missed by her in-laws Howard (Lorraine), Brian (Gunda), Elaine (Mel), Cathy (Dave), Keith (Debbie) and the rest of the Coumont Family; her dear friends Darlene, Linda and Ross and Carol and Herman and their families. Selma was predeceased by her brothers Jack and Cliff; beloved granddaughters, Summer Dawn and Rainy; mother and father, Jack and Clara Laye; mother and father-in-law Alva and Henry Coumont and sister-in-law Arlene McPhee. Selma loved to cook and went to RRCC and pursued a career in cooking for the masses. She cooked in many restaurants and cafeterias in and around Selkirk. She loved to entertain her friends and family hosting and attending many gatherings over the years. Selma loved life and everything that came along with it. Her passion was planting and growing flowers. She was always planting something. She loved her yard and loved to be in it. When Selma first became ill in 1996, then in 2002 and again in July of 2006, her family and friends helped her get through the rough times. We want to thank a few doctors who also helped her along the way. Dr. Minuk and nurses Rose and Vicky from G127 at Health Sciences Centre (Liver Clinic) for all their care and support over the years, the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Cardiac Care Unit for all their kindness, Dr. G. R. Fuchs for all his care over the years and finally to the wonderful nursing staff at the Selkirk General Hospital, thank you so much for the care and compassion you gave to Selma and her family. Also a huge thank you to the anonymous family who donated their loved ones liver in 1996 to give Selma more time with her family, we are forever grateful. Honorary pallbearers are her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating.
