HONOR MARIE SCHREYER July 6, 1921 - May 26, 2007 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Honor Marie Schreyer on May 26, 2007, at River East Personal Care Home. Born July 6, 1921, to Jenny Desnaige and Harry Hirschfeld in Schumaker, Ontario, where she was the eldest of 12 children. She was predeceased by her loving husband Henry Schreyer in 2002 and Joe Watson in 1971. She was also predeceased by her parents; and brother Clarence, and sisters, Glady and Florence. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Kathy (Jim); and sons, Bill (Adeline), Donald and daughter Norma Jean (Doug); and grandchildren, Sheree, Wayne (Debbie), Charles (Katherine), Douglas (Shauna) and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan, Dustin, Dylan, Chad, Wiliam, Victoria and Nicholas. She is also survived by sisters, Charlotte, Mable, Denise, Theresa, Mae and Joyce; also brothers, Frank and Eldon. Throughout her life she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was always there for her family and friends before herself. She spent her life looking after people in need. She also was passionate about looking after Donnie, her son, and was an advocate for the disabled. Mom spent most of her adult life in Winnipeg and Beausejour. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Beausejour Legion and her and Henry were also affiliated with the Korean War Veterans Association. Mom worked at various jobs throughout her life and retired from Sears at Polo Park where she worked last. Honor was an avid gardener and every fall she would be doing lots of canning. She always had beautiful plants in her house and flowers in the yard. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake and there were many parties, celebrations and special dinners with family and friends. Mom enjoyed travelling and attending the family reunions when ever possible. Family was always her priority. She loved her pets and had several dogs, cats and birds throughout her life and on the farm. The family would like to thank River East Personal Care Home for their excellent care and who were also a great source of comfort. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and celebration of her life will take place at Wheeler Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 1, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. If friends so wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made on her behalf to the Alzheimers Society or Humane Society. We will miss you and always love you forever, Granny FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS IN CARE OF WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST 224-1525

  • Was thinking today of the day I turned 16 and Honor dropped me off for my Drivers Test. Always remember her well for many many things in life. Wonder how Norma Jean and Donald are doing? - Posted by: Brian Benoit () on: Jul 16, 2012
