CLAUDIA LOUISE MILTON-HARRIS On May 28, 2007, at Riverview Health Centre, Claudia MiltonHarris, aged 50, slipped away peacefully, with family and friends nearby. She will always be cherished by her daughter Stephanie; the twins, Jonathon and Julia; husband Albert; children, Kayla and Richard; brothers, Chris (Cindy) Milton, Paul (Maria) Milton; nieces and nephews, Tiffany Rudderham (Ken) and Paul Milton, Quinn Milton, Andrew and Laura Sherman, Jason and Tanya Sherman, Michael and Jennifer Sherman and a multitude of friends. Claudia was predeceased by her parents, Byron and Shirley Milton; her sister Laura, and her precious daughter Melanie. Claudia was born and raised in Fort Garry and lived in Winnipeg all of her life. She started school at Sacred Heart at the early age of five. She ultimately attended Oakenwald School, Viscount Alexander, Vincent Massey and finally attending the University of Manitoba. While studying, she worked at the University Book Store and in 1982 after graduating she joined the Department of Psychology and ultimately joined Dr. Garry Martin as his assistant, not only doing research and preparing manuscripts and books for publication, she also assisted graduate and undergraduate students with their research and thesis work. In 1999 she moved to the Faculty of Nursing as a Student Advisor and impacted many students. In 2001 she became the Student Advisor for Distance and Continuing Education and worked with students all around the world. Many of the students continued to keep in touch after graduation and it was never a surprise to have somebody burst out of a crowd and run over to hug her and thank her for help she provided them at the University of Manitoba. She was greatly respected. Claudia was devoted to her family and her friends. It is fair to say the words family and friends were interchangeable in her eyes. As well as volunteering for children's programs in the community and local schools, she was very involved with the Twin's Club of Manitoba and met many new friends and families there. She was a devoted curling fan, never missing a game or bonspiel, and might also be occasionally found holed up in a local hotel room to avoid any interruption during the Worlds. She will be remembered for many things: her wit, her wisdom, her compassion, but mostly for her smile - it was amazing. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 1 2007 in Thomson In The Park , 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Winnipeg, 925-1120. Flowers are gratefully declined, however donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the DeWeile-Topshee Endowment Fund at the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, 820 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 9Z9.
